Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follow program plans set out by Day Care Supervisor for a one on one
- Assist in the preparation delivery of programs particularly those involving local content, Cree language and cultural programming
- Provide a stimulating program for the infant/child to learn
- Keep individual development records
- Work in partnership with parents, communicating on a regular basis, and assisting with all day care related activities
- Take additional training as needed for complex needs
- Perform other relevant duties from time to time as required
- Participate in cultural and community events
Qualifications
- Must provide an up to date Criminal Record Check, Child Intervention Record Check and a Level 1 (or higher) certificate
- Must provide resume with child care experience
- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items
- A positive attitude, good speaking and writing skills
- The ability to take direction and work independently and effectively in a team environment
- Time management & effective communication skills

The Alexander First Nation Education Department is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to work as an Educational Assistant and one on one worker at KEC.
Duties (but are not limited to):
- Work under the supervision of one or several teachers and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Supervise student in structured classroom and unstructured (hallways, recess, lunch hour) settings
- Assist with preparing materials and clerical tasks as require
- Use effective instructional strategies to help student with lessons and assignments
- Observe and report student behaviour and progress
- A positive attitude, excellent speaking and writing skills
- May supervise children during lunch and recess breaks or field trips
- Work in partnership with parents, communicating on a regular basis, and assisting with all school related activities
- Willing to work with other departments and agencies
- Assist in the preparation delivery of programs particularly those involving local content, Cree language and cultural programming.
- Take additional training related to complex needs
Qualifications
- The ability to deal with the emotional and mental stress of working with a student or groups of students with complex needs
- The ability to interact with students and staff in a tactful, empathetic manner
- A positive attitude, good speaking and writing skills
- The ability to take direction and work independently and effectively in a team environment
- Flexibility, patience, sensitivity, tolerance, enthusiasm, creativity and imagination
- A minimum of Grade Twelve and child related work experience
*Must Provide a recent Criminal Record Check & a Child Welfare Check (CWIS) prior to employment if selected
